Brainstorming:
I heard styrofoam and immediately thought of those creepy styrofoam heads you find at a craft store. To figure out how I would go about using them to make a planter, I went to the Google and also looked at what others were doing on Pinterest. Unsurprisingly people are doing a lot of cool things with concrete.
Inspired by others I sketched up a variety of projects I would be interested, and how I would modify them to qualify for the "only concrete" rule for the assignment.
I came across these baby head concrete sculptures, and they were so creepy and delightful, I really wanted to attempt to make them. So, I've found myself planning two different projects, one I wasn't sure was going to work and another that had a better chance of working out.

Process:
So, due to life and things, I had enough material to only go for my baby head planter idea.
I went to target, got the cheapest baby doll I could find, and I took the head off.
I then took this molding putty and put it around the head. Before it settled completely, I cut the mold in half in case I wanted to make another planter. This would make it easier to remove down the line and would lower the chances of me messing up the mold.
I then had to piece it back together using tape which was an adventure. Turns out, things don't like sticking to putty so I had to wrap it so the tape was sticking to itself. For extra measure, I wrapped the mold in plastic wrap to prevent anything from leaking out. To stick it to a plate, I used this museum putty that I had lying around that's meant to serve as a temporary sticking solution.
I then mixed the concrete, added way too much aggregate, and possibly water, it was a mess. Using a spoon and the measuring cup, I built up the walls, got things to go where I wanted and then I left it there for a day.
About an hour in, I went back and made some holes with this tube I found, because it was wrapped up and I wasn't paying the best attention, the holes got placed in the face and the back of the head.
This was the "final" hanging result
I didn't like the hole placement, and I filled it using this fix-it concrete stuff my dad had lying around. That and it was too creepy. It did seem to be hanging fine though, so there is that.
