Portfolio and Capstone Goals

Strategic Planning - 5 years

Personal:

  • Getting treatment and help for my mental health, and learning how to manage it.

  • Travel to a country by myself

  • Having my own apartment

  • Move out of Colorado

  • Take lessons in a hobby I want to learn (skating or cello or both)

  • Make a dent in paying off student loans

  • Rescue a cat

  • Buy a coach. Not one that people sit in. A couch purely for aesthetic purposes but is terrible to actually sit in. That’s success.

Professionally:

  • Work for a company I love and aligns w/ my personal morals (ex. Diversity at all levels, gives back to the community, etc.)

  • Work Internationally

  • Work on movies. I want to be a credit in a film.

  • Lead a team of people

  • Speak with students at my alma mater.

Creatively

  • Learn to digitally paint or draw

  • Have an online store where I sell designs (also works under professionally)

  • Play more video games, read 100 books in one year, etc. (Fill my creative well)

  • Learn how to oil paint

  • Make one piece street art

Portfolio Goals:

  • I want to have a nice color palette. Specifically, I want to have a cool-toned palette. I think this will help it have a cohesive look.

  • I want it to be easy to navigate and accessible (ex. I want to try to include text descriptions for photos).

  • Avoid Helvetica. I really like it but I need to branch out. In general I would like to have more fun with my typography.

  • Update projects to show growth. This will not be done in time for this class, but I do want to revisit some design projects from a couple years ago.

  • Loads well. I have a lot of big files on my process blog so it takes a hot second for it to load now. I need to adjust file size so they are clear but don’t hinder it from loading.

  • Is a good look at the range of subjects that I have studied in CTD.

Capstone Goals:

  • I want a good challenge but also something that’s doable. I don’t want it to be so easy that I’m bored.

  • I want to love it even when I hate it. I want it to be something that I care so much about that even when I want to pull my hair out and never see it again, I continue to work on it because I know the end result will be worth it.

  • I want it to have a visual element. I’m thinking I’m going to go for more of a design/software based project, even though I do love physical computing.
