I was able to go through some of my game mechanics with Danny Rankin. I was in my paper prototype phase. He recommended a couple games for me to look at like Deadwood that had a similar mechanic to my rooms. We discussed how to add more stress and anxiety to the game to accomplish the sense of foreboding I was going for. An idea that I really liked was re-introducing death back into the story. Danny suggested having it be physical character that hopped around room to room. I modified this idea to be in the event cards so it wouldn't be another thing for people to do in game, and it would fit more seamlessly in the flow I had built up. I put this idea in my event cards where players draw it and it inhibits movement in a certain room. They can be paid off. Another card I added was a sudden death card. This was inspired by the dynamite card in Bang, but it was a sudden death card that would be passed around. This gave "death" more of the physical presence that Danny suggested.
